The 1800s Spring_Heeled_Jack legend seems to be the forerunner of The Dark_Knight.
Is SHJ just another urban legend? Regardless, its fascinating how descriptions of a big man in boots with a costume that featured bat like wings & a helmet with pointed ears, has been around since the 1830s. He even spoke English in a very dark brooding tone voice, like Batman.
The first sightings of him seem to be just over a century before the first Batman comic book was printed. Unlike the menacing SHJ, the Batman character fights bad people for the common good.
