Its fascinating whenever 3D images in movies are depicted in a crystal ball. Whether its an image of one in a book or in a 2D movie like The Wizard_of_Oz in 1939. The 1974 movie Zardoz has a scene depicting holographic projection.
A lot of people don't seem to realize that while today its no big deal to see 3D images in a sphere or having images on a tablet PC talking to you, it wasn't suppose to exist in the ancient past. Yet how did some people have the concept of a tablet_computer or magic mirror on the wall communicating sounds & images to the viewer? Long before 3DTV & holographic projection, there was the concept of the crystal ball. Obviously some of this ancient symbolism was eventually adapted into a modern technological form.
